ABOUT OKLAHOMA Western Telephone Company & Phoenix Communications

FOUNDERS

Luther and Juanita Morris founded the Oklahoma Western Telephone Company in 1932. The business they founded has grown over the years and expanded to provide cellular telephones, cable television, long distance service, and Internet service to Latimer, Leflore, and Pushmataha counties. Today, the Oklahoma Western Telephone Company is still owned and operated by their descendents.

Lacy and Pauline Van Horn carry on the Family Business

In the Family

The Telephone company has stayed "In the Family" with Lacy C. and Pauline Van Horn. Lacy C. Van Horn who passed away from this life on April 7, 1990, helped to build a stronghold in the community. Lacy dedicated himself to the service of the community, which took years of hard work, dedication, and determination to see it through.

Lacy and Pauline Van Horn have worked hard and unselfishly in providing telephone service to our rural area. Lacy worked to build the telephone service from C-wire, Magneto Telephones, and Party Lines, to the modernization of Fiber Optic Cable, Digital Central Offices, and Private Line Service.

Lacy was blessed with seeing a greater portion of his dream fulfilled. He was also blessed with a family that will carry on his tradition.

Lacy was a person who loved his family, his job, and working in his garden and yard in his minimal spare time. He believed in living its fullest, and he did.

Today, Pauline Van Horn leads the Telephone Company into the modern age with TV Cable, Cellular Service, and Internet being added to the companies many services.
